Synopsis

As the 808 towns of Edo are enveloped in the darkness of night, someone rustling in the attic appears. Nezumi Kozo Jirokichi is a noble thief who takes wealth from the wealthy and distributes it among the poor. Osuzu is a townswoman who has lost her husband and is living a difficult life with her young child. Bonji Yasugoro and Chogoro try to use Osuzu to uncover Nezumi Kozo's true identity. Okahiki Kanemon is renowned for hating the sin but not the sinner. Sadao Yamanaka, the film director, has a dream of a melancholic human drama set in the streets of Edo...
